Calendula

The foliage  of Calendula

Calendula is a very easy plant to grow from seed,  usually grown in the place that you want them to flower in. Calendula can also be grown in trays and potted on once large enough. They can be tender so must be hardened off before planting outside. That being said Calendula's will survive a mild winter to flower again the following year.

Once the flowering has commenced ensure the dead heads are removed to prolong the flowering period, towards the end of the season, leave a few dead heads to gather seeds from, this way the seeds can be used next year. Once the first frosts arrive the plants can be removed and discarded.
