Primula Polyanthus

The foliage of Polyanthus will be posted above.

There are many different Polyanthus, I am sure everyone has had some ay one point or another. the plant that gives so much colour in the spring,  an easy plant to look after, needs very little looking after until the flowers have past. Once the flowers havefinished, cut the flower spikes back to the ground. Over the summer, there maybe the need to remove some dead leaves from the base of the plant. Ensure the plant does not dry out, in hot weather Polyanthus will droop when it requires water. The leaves will flop down so it is easy to notice.

At the end of the season, most of the leaves will die back and need to be removed, Polyanthus is frost hardy so will be quite happy to sit the frosts and snow out.

After a few years the plant will become squashed and will need to be divided, this is not as hard as it sounds, there is a guide on the site on how do split up the plant. The flower heads can also be left to seed, the following year the seedlings will appear around the parent plant, once large enough they can be trans planted in another area of the garden.
