Jacob's Ladder

The foliage of Jacob's Ladder

Jacob's Ladder is nice early bloomer for the garden,

flowering from May into late June. Bell shaped flowers in blue or white, on long stems. It will tolerate most shady areas in the garden, so perfect for those areas that others plants will not grow in.  Once the flower blloms have finished, cut back and you may get another set of flowers later on.

Once the flowers have finished the flower spike can be cut to remove the spent flowers, Jacob's Ladder is quite a seeder so removing the flower heads after the blooms have faded will prevent this  a little, or they can be left and the plants will grow around the base of the main plant. Leave, move or pot on and give to freinds.

At the end of the season, cut the flower spike to the base and remove any dead leaves and leave to over winter. In the spring there maybe some more dead leaves, remove and its ready for the summer.
